CAMP CODA
Children of Deaf Adults
Jodee Mundy travels to Pennsylvania to join the first Asian American CODA camp for Deaf parents and their children. Can an immersive experience in sign language and Asian family values help these pre-teens connect more deeply with their Deaf parents?

THE FILMMAKER
Jodee Mundy OAM is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural leader, and advocate for disability arts. A CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), she is the only hearing member of her family and considers Auslan her first language. She has worked across theatre, film, festivals, and community arts, collaborating with major arts organizations and independent sectors in Australia and internationally. Jodee founded Jodee Mundy Collaborations, creating works such as Imagined Touch (a multi-award-winning project with Deafblind artists) and Personal (a solo multimedia performance exploring her experience as a hearing person in a Deaf family). Her works have toured globally, including at the Barbican (UK) and Sydney Opera House. She was the founding Director of FUSE Festival, leading five festivals during Melbourne’s lockdowns, and served as Creative Lead of Alter State, Australia’s largest disability-led arts festival. Jodee has held leadership roles at Next Wave Inc., worked as a British Sign Language interpreter in the UK, and has been a peer assessor and mentor for various arts programs. Awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2020 for her contributions to the performing arts, she continues to champion cultural equity, inclusive leadership, and representation in the arts.
